Festival of Nativities

Today, a friend invited me attend the Festival of Nativities at the First Christian Church. This is the seventh year the church has displayed about 150 nativities throughout the church. However, this was the first time for me to see the exhibit. I was so impressed by the diversity of the displays depicting the birth of Jesus.

Large NativityThere were large and small Nativities and Nativities made of metal, glass and wood.

Wood Nativity

A fabric Nativity was set out where young children could play. Also on display were Nativities of children portraying the birth of Jesus. I think I enjoyed these the most with the smiles and rosy checks of the children.

Childrens Nativity

Some Nativities displayed different national origins.

Native American Nativity

There was a Hummel set brought from Germany 40 years ago and some Nativities from Peru. There was a Nativity of snowmen and a Nativity with bears.

I enjoyed them all so much and as I walked through the church amid so many Nativities I could only think about the real reason for the season. Christmas is not about the gifts, it is about the birth of Jesus our Lord and Savior.

Be Inspired,
