My Fabulous Treasure Finds of the Weekend

It was a great weekend here in Oklahoma. The weather was just right for getting out and going thrift shopping. It seems that thrift stores are popping up all around us and so we made lots of stops to find just what we wanted.

We were in search of an end table for the living room. Some may say I’m picky but I say I just know what I want. I was looking for something that wasn’t too big and it had to be just the right height to go beside my chair. I knew that whatever we got would need some TLC with some sanding and paint.

The first few stops turned up nothing. But then, we found this table…Lego Table

Not what I want beside my chair but perfect for this Lego table I found on Pinterest. My grandson is going to love it.

Our next stop had some nice used furniture and my husband pointed out this little gem to me.

Perfect Side Table

My husband doesn’t always get me but somehow he found the perfect table. I didn’t even have to paint it. We did change the knob on the drawer from a crystal knob to an anchor. It’s already sitting beside my chair and I love it.

I would love to hear what you found this weekend.

Craft Room Treasures

I have been working on setting up a craft room. I have been enjoying organizing my supplies and hanging items on the walls. I have been going through boxes of items that my daughter had and some of it was from my grandmother. I have come across some precious treasures.

What has captured my attention are two pincushions. One is homemade and the other is just a unique find. The homemade pincushion was made before Pinterest and probably before the internet. I do not know if my grandmother made it or if it was given to her. But I imagine she made it, probably at a class that she attended.

Mason Jar PincushionThis pin cushion was made from a Mason jar lid. It has gold ric rac around the lid and the bottom has a piece of cardboard covered with fabric. It is a stand-alone pin cushion that could not be put back on the Mason jar. I have found several tutorials on Pinterest to make your own. Click here for a tutorial that I found.

Chair PincushionThis pin cushion is just a unique find. I do not know where my grandmother got this one. It is so ornate with pearl beads on the legs and lots of detail.

I have not been using these pincushions but do have them on display in my craft room.

Do you have little treasures displayed in your craft room?

Summer Fairy Garden

We have been having some beautiful days. I love this warmer weather we are having. And now is the time to be cleaning out the flower beds and planting new flowers. However, before I do that I wanted to get my fairy garden in order.

This winter, I made a snow-covered winter fairy garden. So, getting rid of the snow was long overdue. I took out all of my little miniatures and threw away all the snow and potting soil. I was ready to start fresh and create a new looking fairy garden.

Fairy GardenFirst, I added potting soil to fill up my bird feeder. I wanted to make a little river in my garden so I added river rocks to create the river. Then, I added the moss for ground cover. This year, I used the sheets of moss instead of the loose moss that I used last year. And the moss sheets where so easy to use and I love that it looks like a plush lawn.

Fairy GardenI planted a little greenery to make it a true garden. Then, I added the miniature decorations I had plus I added a new little fairy and a bridge to go over the river.

Fairy GardenMy front porch is ready for summer. Do you have a fairy garden?
