Crafting for Christmas

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We enjoyed a house full and where so blessed to have our daughters here for the whole weekend. We didn’t get up early to fight the crowd during Black Friday but went out later in the day to see what was left. To get ready for Christmas we created our own Pinterest party.

While at Hobby Lobby on Black Friday, I purchased enough supplies for all three of us to make a Christmas craft that I found on Pinterest. To make yours, you will need a sheet of scrapbook paper, small jingle bells, and a picture frame. Be sure the picture frame is deep and that there is space between the glass and the back of the frame. You will also use your cutting machine but if you do not have one be sure to get some rub on letters or stickers.

Supplies

First open the frame and took out the cardboard and clean off the glass. Then cut the scrapbook paper to fit on the back of the picture frame and glue it down.

Cut out “Jingle All The Way” in vinyl with a cutter and place on the glass.

Stick vinyl to glassOnce the glass is back in the frame, add a few bells.

Pinterest Party

Now, my daughters and I each have a decoration for our homes that will make us think about the fun time we had making them. We just may have to make it a tradition to make a Christmas craft each Black Friday.

Faux Wood Sign

Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend and were able to enjoy some pretty spring weather. Today, I am sharing a faux wood sign with a quote that I love.

Several weeks ago, I bought this faux wood sign from Hobby-Lobby and when I saw it I knew what I wanted to do. I knew this would be a great opportunity for me to use the Silhouette.

Faux Wood SignI have been changed the decor in the house to a beach theme and I wanted to put some kind of beach quote on the sign. Searching through my collect quotes on Pinterest, I found the quote that I love and is perfect for the sign.

In High Tide or In Low Tide

I’ll Be By Your Side

I used my Silhouette to cut out the quote in black vinyl. For the words, I used the free font Birds Singing. Then I cut out the anchor in a red vinyl.

I transferred the anchor and then the quote over to the sign. And now, I have my own DIY sign with a great quote that goes with my home decor.

By Your SideDo you have a cutting tool that you like to use?

Love You Sign

I love quick, easy and cheap crafts. Today I want to share with you a cute “love you” sign that falls into all of these categories. This last weekend was so busy that a quick craft project was a must if I wanted to accomplish anything.

love you signFor this cute “love you” sign, I used a simple cheap frame. If you don’t have some empty frames you can pick one up at the dollar store. I used two sheets of white card stock and three washi tapes that had red and pink in them.

love you cut outI used my Silhouette to cut one of the sheets of card stock with “love you”. Then on the other sheet of card stock I placed the washi tape horizontally.

wash itapePlace the cut out sign in front of the washi tape lined page and put in the frame.

Appliquéd Burp Cloth

Hope ya’ll had a great 4th of July! It was really nice for me to have a day off in the middle of the week. Since it was the middle of the week, our family just stayed at home and enjoyed time together. At dark, we went and watched the fireworks display put on by the city.

I’m still getting ready for a grand-son that should be coming any time now. Since burp cloths are a must, I dressed up some cloth diapers with appliques.

I folded the cloth diapers in third and sewed the ends and sides together. Then, using the Silhouette Cameo, and the silhouette interfacing, I cut out the silhouettes of a truck, dinosaur, and giraffe. I used a simple stitch on the sewing machine to applique the silhouettes on the cloth. I love how they turned out!!

The giraffe is my favorite. I love the fabric with the spots.

The dinosaur is also very cute with the tie dye green fabric.
What would you make with a Silhouette Cameo? Don’t have one? I know this great blog that is giving one away! Just visit I {heart} Nap Time and enter to win! Good Luck!

Monogram Tile

Wow, I have been off this week and have accomplished so much. It has been great to take vacation and stay at home. Even though I love to travel, spending time at home and sleeping in my bed are also wonderful.

During my time at home I have been looking for some inspiration on Pinterest. I was looking for a wedding gift and found the perfect pinspiration here at The Hybrid Chick.

Like my pinspiration, I used a 6×6 tile. However, I decided to use the Silhouette Cameo and print my design in vinyl. I used a red vinyl for the large letter in the background and black vinyl for the words and flourishes.
This was such an easy project I may have to make one for me. This would look so nice on my mantel or entry table.

Do you have weddings to go to this summer? What are some gifts you made for the wonderful couple?
