Valentine Table Runner

I decided to make one more Valentine project before the big day gets here. Since Valentines will be here in only a few days I needed a quick project. Recently, we moved our entry table, that we had been using in another room, back into the entry way. So, to dress the table up I decided to make a small table runner.

When I think of Valentines projects, I think about doilies and how doilies where always used in Valentine’s crafts in school. So, I went old school and got out the doilies. I also used burlap, ruffled ribbon and stamps to decorate the runner.

Table Runner SuppliesFirst, I stamped hearts on the doilies. Then, I used letter stamps to write out “love you”, “kiss me”, and “be mine” on the doilies.

I sewed the ruffled ribbon around my piece of burlap. Then, I used modge podge to attach the doilies to the burlap.

It is a nice little addition to our table.

Mini Wooden LOVE Sign

We had such a beautiful weekend with highs in the 60’s after having such a cold week with highs in the 20’s. Today it is going to be cold again with a high of 27. I certainly enjoyed the nice weather while it lasted and am so glad it was here on the weekend. Did you have a good weekend or was it still cold where you are?

This weekend I had time to make a wooden “love” sign.

LOVE signI used a 6 inch square board with rounded edges and 1 3/4 inch wooden letters.

I have rounded up some other “love” ideas that I think you will like.

Valentine’s Mantel

It’s Friday! Are you as excited as I am for the weekend? I really don’t have a specific reason to be excited except for the fact that I do not have to go to work for two days. I look forward to being at home and doing some crafting. I still have a few more ideas for Valentine’s that I would love to make. But I’m off to a great start with my Valentine mantel.

Valentine GarlandThis week I made a heart garland for the fireplace mantel. I used two sheets of red felt that already had glitter on one side. I cut different sizes of hearts with pinking shears.

Felt HeartsOnce I had enough hearts I used embroidery floss to sting the hearts and white pom-poms together. Then I hung the garland above the fireplace.

Valentine's MantelHere is my Valentine’s mantel with the heart wreath and love you sign. To finish off the mantel, I added a few decorative bottles, vase of flowers, candle and a picture of the family.

Heart Wreath

I had a very busy three day weekend. Our family spent time together at the Oklahoma Aquarium. Our grandson had so much fun getting up close to the fish and even touching some of them.

Then when we got home I had housework but I also made time to put together some Valentine decorations. The first thing I made was a wreath to go over the mantel.

Heart WreathI used a heart shaped wire wreath, mesh ribbon, and wire ribbon. For the hearts I cut them out of felt.

Wreath SuppliesI tied the mesh and ribbon on with red chenille stems.

Wreath First, I tied on some of the chevron ribbon close to the frame because the green wire frame of the wreath was showing through the red mesh. Then I tied the red mesh in big loops onto the frame. Then I tied more chevron ribbon in big loops with the mesh. I glued the two felt hearts onto the ribbon.

Heart WreathI love the addition above the fireplace.
